OMC Free Sun Milk Formulation with high transparency

Hi, How are you?

We would like to introduce a Sun Milk formulation that does not contain PEG, Silicone oil and OMC, which is one of the banned chemical sunscreens in Hawaii.

The W/O Sun Milk formulation with SPF50 PA4+ was developed using a chemical & physical sunscreen combination.

We used SUNCLEAR-Z75AB with other chemical filters in order to obtain high transparency and high UV protection efficacy.

SUNCLEAR-Z75AB is an Alkyl Benzoate based 30nm ZnO dispersion. The nano ZnO provides excellent UV protection and high transparency.

EtOH, Microplastic, OMC free Sun Gel formulations

We would like to share Sun Gel formulations that do not contain EtOH, Microplastic and OMC, which is one of the banned chemicals in Hawaii.

Most Sun Gel formulations in the market contain EtOH. Sunjin developed EtOH free formulation for the Clean Beauty trend using SUNSIL-AB.

SUNSIL-AB is a Silica bead encapsulate with a chemical filter, Avobenzone. This product is ideal for water-based sun care formulations.

SUNSIL-AB also gives efficient UVA protection to the formulation. You can obtain higher UV protection efficacy when using SUNSIL-AB compared to when Avobenzone is separately applied to the formulation.

The secret method to pass the FDA Inspection

We would like to share how Sunjin passed the FDA inspection with No Action Indicated(NAI) as the first cosmetic raw material manufacturer in Korea.

First, we have invested heavily in the construction of Top Down, Closed Production Line. This system makes it possible to prevent microbiological contamination and cross contamination, which is one of the FDA requirements.

This Smart Factory is our own design.  Large capital expenditure was required to build the automatic and dedicated production line optimized to Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient(API) production.

In addition, we recruited many QA, QC staffs with pharmaceutical backgrounds to enhance the capability of quality management. In order to meet the FDA requirement on Data Integrity, we educate and train production staffs and prevent tamper problem on records.

OMC Free Sunscreen Formulations by Sunjin

Today we would like to introduce Octinoxate(OMC) free sunscreen formulations. OMC is one of the banned chemicals in Hawaii due to its toxic effects on marine environment.

The Sun Gel formulation with SPF30 PA3+ below does not contain EtOH, OMC and plastic beads, which makes it suitable for the Clean Beauty Trend.

The Shaking Sun Milk below is our new proposal with high transparency and high UV protection of SPF50 PA4+. It is OMC, PEG and Silicone oil free formulation.

A second new formulation is our Shaking Sun Lotion SPF50 PA4+ with mineral filters only. This formulation is PEG and Silicone oil free.

Hectorite study featured on Langmuir, a SCI journal

We are proud to announce that our study on Hectorite has been featured on the front cover of Langmuir, a SCI journal published by the American Chemical Society.

In this study, we presented a Pickering emulsion system stabilized via hectorite. A bi-layered coacervate is generated by the interaction between Hectorite platelets and Cellulose fibrils in order to counter the instability of Pickering emulsions.

Since 2016, Sunjin has been developing and manufacturing Hectorite based cosmetic products. We will continue the research and sales of these ingredients as next-generation materials.

Island Ban Update 2021

Hi, How are you?

We would like to share an update on Island Ban which went into effect in 2021.

Hawaii banned the sale of over-the-counter sunscreens containing Oxybenzone and Octinoxate in order to protect Hawaii’s marine environment from January 1^st, 2021.

Under the law, it is still allowed to bring sunscreens with the banned chemicals into the state, but many in survey expressed they would prefer to buy ones deemed safe for the reef in Hawaii.

The alternatives are mineral-based sunscreens containing Zinc Oxide and Titanium dioxide, which have been recognized by the U.S. FDA as Generally Recognized As Safe and Effective(GRASE).

A gift shop in Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve in Hawaii had stopped selling sunscreens with the prohibited two chemicals and was selling mineral-based sunscreens.
