The Sand Grain’s Journey: Silica from Mother Nature
By Lim, Julia
April 2024, NO.16
Hi, how are you?
At In-cosmetics Global 2024, there will be various events in the Sustainability Zone. Especially, sustainability theatre presentations are dedicated to showcasing the latest advancements and achievements in sustainable beauty, with expert keynote speakers and ingredient suppliers.
Sunjin Beauty Science became the first company in Korea to speak at this event!
Dr.Sungho Lee, CEO of Sunjin Beauty Science, will speak about ‘The Sand Grain’s Journey: Silica from Mother Nature’, which is about sustainable silica.
The presentation explores the remarkable journey of a silica grain, from the pristine beaches of Australia to its application in our innovative beauty products and, ultimately, its return to nature.
We will mainly talk about our silica bead series, which begins with silica sand, meticulously collected from the Cape Flattery Silica Sand Mine in Australia.
After being collected from nature, through a series of well-defined processes, sand grains will be transformed into high-quality silica beads specifically designed for use in the cosmetics industry.
These silica beads become integral components of various beauty products, delivering exceptional texturizing and soft-focus effects for our discerning consumers.
Once the product reaches the end of its life cycle, the silica naturally returns to the ocean floor and contributes to the formation of new sediments.
Over time, these sediments are compressed and transformed into new rock formations, and through natural geological processes, these rocks eventually erode, giving rise to new sand grains, ready to begin the cycle anew.
