In the recent global sunscreen market, the ultimate challenge for formulators is developing products that offer high SPF protection while maintaining an ultra-lightweight texture ideal for daily use.

However, incorporating organic UV filters into Oil-in-Water (O/W) systems has consistently presented technical difficulties in balancing sensory appeal with efficacy, specifically:

- Loss of SPF Efficiency due to non-homogeneous filter dispersion.

- Compromised Emulsion Stability.

- Limitations in Formula Lightweighting.

- Increased Tackiness and heavy residual feel.

To resolve these formulation constraints, we are proud to introduce HYDROSOLA, our innovative solution featuring organic UV filters encapsulated within a multi-layer structure.

■ Introduction to the HYDROSOLA Series

The HYDROSOLA Series is a water-dispersible UV filter solution in which organic UV filters are encapsulated within a multi-layer structure. A sub-micron particle design (< 1 µm) stabilizes organic UV filters and enables rapid and uniform dispersion within aqueous systems.

These multi-layer encapsulated micro-particles spread evenly over the skin, forming a uniform protective film that ensures stable and effective UV protection.

Furthermore, the HYDROSOLA Series supports a variety of organic UV filter options, enabling optimized selection based on formulation requirements and intended application environments.

In particular, the newly launched HYDROSOLA-EBD and HYDROSOLA-AOC are customized solutions tailored to specific target UV protection ranges. Their water-dispersible nature ensures effortless integration into formulations, while the multi-layer micro-particle design significantly reduces tackiness and creates a uniform, protective UV shield on the skin.

■ Benefit 1: Organic UV Filter System with Uniform Dispersion in the Aqueous Phase

The HYDROSOLA series enables organic UV filters to disperse rapidly and uniformly in the aqueous phase without a separate heating process (Cold Process).

This advancement allows for:

- Increased Flexibility in O/W sunscreen formulations.

- A Wider Selection of oil-raw materials.

- Enhanced formulation Reproducibility and improved manufacturing efficiency.

■ Benefit 2: Enhanced UV Protection at Equivalent Concentrations

When incorporating the HYDROSOLA series, we confirmed superior UV protection performance compared to conventional formulations where the same concentration of UV filters was individually added to the oil phase. These results have been rigorously validated through both in vivo and in vitro testing.

■ Benefit 3: Superior Long-term Formulation Stability

The micro-particle structure of HYDROSOLA maintains small and uniform emulsion droplets within the formula, simultaneously enhancing both formulation stability and the longevity of UV protection.

■ Benefit 4: Lightweight Sensory Profile

Formulations utilizing HYDROSOLA provide a fresh, non-sticky, and lightweight feel compared to conventional organic UV filter-based products. This is attributed to the multi-layer encapsulation of the UV filters, which minimizes residue on the skin's surface upon application."
