December 2024, NO.50

Hi, how are you?

Sunjin Beauty Science is continuously pioneering new horizons in cosmetic ingredient technology through relentless research and innovation. In this issue, we aim to share our technological expertise and scientific approach by showcasing our recently registered and pending patents.

First, the patent for “Ultraviolet protecting powder and method for manufacturing the same,” applied to the recently launched Silica UV Capsule series, focuses on developing UV-blocking powder by embedding organic UV filters into the pores of porous silica.

By using silica instead of PMMA, this innovation fundamentally addresses health and ecological risks associated with microplastic. Furthermore, the exceptional surface hardness of the silica coating layer ensures the stable retention of organic UV filters while delivering a superior texture, making it an innovative breakthrough in product development.

We would also like to introduce the patent for “Nano Free Silica Particle and Manufacturing Method thereof,” applied to the SUNSIL-LUX series.

This patent pertains to the production of Nano free Silica, as confirmed through scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. It eliminates potential nanotoxicity risks, enhances texture with excellent flowability, and achieves superior transparency thanks to its smooth surface, representing a significant advancement in product development.

Sunjin Beauty Science is committed to opening new horizons in cosmetic ingredient technology through a customer-centric, tailored research approach. Our technology goes beyond mere products, pursuing sustainable values that consider both customer health and the environment.

Moving forward, we will continue to shape the future of beauty and health with Sunjin Beauty Science’s innovative technologies.

Introducing an O/W Hybrid Sunscreen Formula Featuring Light Texture with Silica Capsules!

By Jeong, Areum
Translated By Lee, James
November 2024, NO.49

Hi, how are you?

In this issue, we are pleased to introduce our Invisible Daily Sun Cream, an O/W hybrid sunscreen formula featuring a lightweight, non-sticky texture achieved with our newly launched silica capsule product, SUNSIL-S.

Invisible Daily Sun Cream is an O/W hybrid sunscreen formula containing 8% of SUNSIL-S, our newly launched silica capsule product.

What is SUNSIL-S? It is an ingredient where BEMT (Bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyltriazine), a chemical UV filter, is encapsulated in silica. Since it can be incorporated into the water phase, it enables the development of sunscreen formulations with a lightweight texture.

When using SUNSIL-S compared to using the same net amount of BEMT in the formula, we observed enhanced UV protection performance (from SPF50 PA13.91 to SPF53.3 PA17.4). Furthermore, the use of silica capsule product effectively improves the sticky texture typically associated with sunscreens.

In addition to SUNSIL-S containing BEMT, we have recently launched various silica-encapsulated chemical UV filters. You can selectively use these ingredients based on your preferred chemical UV filtering compounds.

Invisible Daily Sun Cream is an O/W hybrid sunscreen formula featuring powerful UV protection (SPF50, PA4+) and a non-sticky texture, achieved through the use of our silica capsule product, SUNSIL-S.

Translated By Lim, Julia
November 2024, NO.47

Hi, how are you?

Throughout the year, Sunjin Beauty Science has developed and launched a variety of products tailored to meet our customers’ needs. In this newsletter, we are excited to introduce three flagship products successfully launched in 2024, along with a preview of an upcoming new formulation.

First, we introduced the ZINA powder and dispersion series, offering exceptional UV protection and transparency thanks to its uniform particle size. ZINA powder has two types: ZINA-AS, coated with alkyl silane and ZINA-SA, coated with stearic acid. Alongside these powders, we launched four high-content ZnO 75% dispersions (ZINA-75AB, ZINA-75B, ZINA-75C5, ZINA-75CC),each formulated with different emollient bases. These dispersions feature low viscosity, making them easy to use.

Next in our lineup is the Enzyme Oil, EZLite, developed using enzyme-based bioconversion technology. EZLite is formulated to increase the ratio of low molecular weight MAG and DAG within the MAG, DAG, and TAG molecular structure, resulting in a lightweight feel and rapid skin absorption. Additionally, it enhances viscosity when used with various emollients, making it a versatile natural thickener.

Designed for easy application in water-based formulations, SUNSIL-S, SUNSIL-AB, SUNSIL-DHHB, and SUNSIL-EHT encapsulate four types of organic UV filters within silica, providing a lightweight feel along with UV protection. SUNSIL-BLP is an innovative product that also offers blue light protection.

Finally, we are excited to share news of an upcoming formulation. This new hybrid sunscreen includes SUNSIL-S, replacing BEMT in equal measure to achieve SPF 50+ and PA++++ protection. This formula is OMC-free, PEG- and PPG-free, and microplastic-free, reflecting our commitment to environmental responsibility. We look forward to your interest and enthusiasm.

Sunjin Beauty Science will continue to strive to deliver innovative solutions tailored to meet our customers’ needs.

Next-Generation UV Protection: New Silica Capsule Products Launch!

Next-Generation UV Protection: New Silica Capsule Products Launch!

By Jeong, Areum
Translated By Ko, Eunyoung
October 2024, NO.45

Hi, how are you?

In this issue, we’re excited to introduce a new lineup of silica capsule products – SUNSIL-AB, SUNSIL-EHT, SUNSIL-DHHB, and SUNSIL-BLP – following the launch of SUNSIL-S last April. These innovative silica capsules allow traditionally oil-phase organic UV filters to be used in the water phase, creating formulations with a lightweight feel and enhanced UV protection.

The Silica UV Capsule series encapsulates organic UV filters, typically used in oil phases, within silica, enabling their use in the water phase to develop lightweight sun care formulations. This new series is an evolution of our Hybrid series (PMMA capsules), launched in 2007 and now selling over 40MT annually. By using silica instead of PMMA, these products address microplastic concerns.

Most organic UV filters require an oil phase, but SUNSIL-AB, SUNSIL-EHT, SUNSIL-DHHB, and SUNSIL-BLP are water-phase compatible. This flexibility allows formulators to use UV filters in both the oil and water phases, maximizing UV protection effectiveness.

In comparative studies, SUNSIL-AB demonstrated superior UV protection in both in-vivo and in-vitro tests at equivalent net content when compared to BMDBM in the oil phase.

Additionally, thanks to their lightweight feel, these silica capsules are ideal for O/W sun gel formulations where oil use is limited. You can create SPF50, PA++++ sun gel formulations with a non-sticky, light feel – without ethanol.

SUNSIL-AB, SUNSIL-EHT, SUNSIL-DHHB, and SUNSIL-BLP contain 30% organic UV filters in silica capsules, providing a more lightweight texture and higher UV protection.

If you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact us.
